Narro, a leading consultancy in structural and civil engineering, has announced the retirement of Andrew Brown from its Board of Directors, effective from 1st July. After a distinguished career spanning forty years, with thirty years at Narro and twenty years on the Board, Andrew will be stepping down from his position. However, the Practice is delighted to retain Andrew’s involvement as a part-time Consultant. The entire Narro team expresses deep gratitude to Andrew for his significant contributions, dedication, and leadership during his tenure on the Board.
Andrew played a pivotal role in guiding Narro’s growth and success during his time on the Board of Directors. Since joining the company, Narro has expanded from less than 10 employees in a single Edinburgh office to having six offices across the UK, with the workforce soon reaching 100 staff members. Andrew’s strategic vision, engineering expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence have greatly influenced the trajectory of the company.
Andrew is also one of the most esteemed members of the Narro team, being a Fellow of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). Throughout his career at Narro, Andrew has been involved in notable projects such as Stirling Tolbooth, The Easterhouse Arts Centre (The Bridge), and has extensive experience in the healthcare and education sectors.
In conjunction with Andrew’s retirement, Narro is pleased to announce the promotions of Robbie Templeton and Duncan Mowat to the position of Director. Both Robbie and Duncan have demonstrated exceptional abilities and have played vital roles in driving the company’s success in their respective capacities.
Robbie Templeton, who joined Narro as a university graduate seventeen years ago, has consistently exhibited a strong work ethic, profound industry knowledge, and outstanding leadership skills. In 2020, Robbie was promoted to Regional Director and successfully established a new office for Narro in Aberdeen. Robbie has been instrumental in fostering client relationships and driving business growth, both within Aberdeen and across the company. His promotion to Director reflects his outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to Narro’s success.
Duncan Mowat, with over twenty years of experience in the engineering sector, joined Narro in 2020 as a Senior Associate and swiftly showcased his dedication, expertise, and leadership skills. Throughout his tenure, Duncan has successfully led numerous impactful projects, delivering exceptional results and exceeding client expectations. His promotion to Director acknowledges his significant contributions to the company’s growth and his ability to lead and inspire teams.
In Narro’s Glasgow office, the company is also delighted to announce the promotion of Garry Porch to the position of Regional Director. Ben Adam, Managing Director of Narro, commented, “After twenty years of fantastic service on the Board and his wealth of knowledge and expertise, Andrew will definitely be a hard act to follow. However, I’m delighted that he’ll remain involved with the Practice as a Consultant so that we can continue to benefit from his wisdom and experience. I’m also absolutely delighted that Robbie and Duncan are joining the Director team. Both have shown a real commitment to continuing the growth of the company, and their own skills and ideas will be a huge asset. It’s a very exciting time for everyone at Narro.”
