Cherubim and Seraphim Church to Celebrate 100 Years with Centenary Events in the UK
London, June 2025 – The Cherubim and Seraphim Church, one of the oldest and most influential African-initiated Christian movements in Nigeria, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year with a series of iconic Centenary events in the United Kingdom.
Founded in 1925 by St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase in Nigeria, the Church has grown from a small revivalist movement into a global Christian community spanning Africa, Europe, North America, and beyond. The UK has been a central part of this story, with the first branch established in 1965, making this a dual celebration of both the Church’s Centenary and 60 years of presence in the UK.
To mark this momentous occasion, the Church is hosting seminars and a Centenary Thanksgiving Service in the summer of 2025. These events will bring together community leaders, dignitaries, faith representatives, and worshippers from across the UK and the international Diaspora.
The anniversary celebrations will feature a Historical/Scholarly Seminar on Saturday, August 23rd, at 2pm with the theme of “Collaborative Leadership & Making Membership Meaningful.” This seminar will take place at the C&S Church Headquarters, located at 175 Earlham Grove, London E7 9AP.
On Saturday, September 6th, at 3pm, the Church will host a Youth Seminar at C&S Mount Zion Crouch End, 145a Crouch Hill, London N8 9QH. The theme for this seminar is “Raising Leaders, Shaping Culture and Transforming Lives.”
The Centenary Day Prayer will take place on Tuesday, September 9th, at 7pm, virtually on Zoom. The meeting ID is 819 5175 2962, and the passcode is 642728.
The grand finale of the Centenary celebrations will be the Centenary Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, September 13th, at 2pm. This service will take place at the Lighthouse, located at 262 -274 Camberwell Road, Camberwell, London, SE5 0AY. The service will feature gospel music and worship from the Church’s UK Mass Choir, as well as keynote messages from religious and civic leaders.
Chair of the UK Centenary Committee, Pastor (Dr.) Richard Fasunloye, shared his excitement about the upcoming events, stating, “The Cherubim and Seraphim Church has been a spiritual home for generations of African Christians in the UK.” He added, “This milestone is not only a celebration of our past, but a moment to renew our mission for faith, unity, and social contribution in a multicultural Britain.”
Pastor Omololu Fagbore, one of the Church’s youth leaders, expressed his vision for the future, saying, “We envision that the Cherubim & Seraphim Church continues to be a vibrant centre of faith and community for the next century and beyond, serving the needs of our communities with love and compassion.”
