Telecom Acquisitions Ltd (TAL) announced today that it has acquired the customer base and brand of Earth Broadband, one of the UK’s top eco-friendly broadband providers. The acquisition was finalized on Monday 4 August, 2025.
TAL, a leading telecommunications company with over 70,000 currently billing customers, stated that it will be able to absorb the Earth customer base without incurring any additional costs. The company also announced that it will be managing the estate under its Home Telecom brand.
Nigel Barnett, CEO of TAL, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “Over the last few years, we have successfully acquired 13 company bases, onboarding and supporting them in a matter of weeks. This is a record we are proud of.” He added, “As an ecologically conscious business, Earth has planted approximately 100,000 trees across the world. Its philosophy excites us, and we will continue with the good work they have established by giving something back to the planet.”
Barnett also announced that as part of the deal, the Earth team will be joining the TAL group. He described them as a “dynamic group of bright young people” who will blend seamlessly with the Home Telecom team under the leadership of his daughter, Sasha. He praised Earth’s use of intelligent technology to manage its estate, stating, “This minimizes manual intervention and is something we could all learn from.”
He reassured Earth’s current customers that their terms, conditions, and pricing will remain the same or even be enhanced. Earth Broadband, which was founded three years ago by 23-year-old Luke Chapman, has approximately 4,000 customers. Chapman’s vision for the company was to maximize the use of Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology while also establishing strong green credentials.
Chapman stated, “One of the reasons I started Earth Broadband was to make a difference. Not only do our customers plant trees every month by having their broadband with us, but they also create jobs, protect ecosystems, and play a significant role in mitigating climate change. I’m confident we will continue with this positive work under Home Telecom’s wing.”
Barnett also reassured Earth’s customers that they will experience no service disruption as they are mainly connected to the PXC (formerly TalkTalk) network, which will only have an account notation within the TAL group.
Barnett explained that TAL has been quieter on the acquisition front recently as the company has been experiencing organic growth through its traditional marketing model. He revealed that in July alone, the company had 31,000 opportunities for growth. However, he acknowledged that the marketplace is becoming increasingly competitive, putting a strain on margins. He stated, “That’s why we are back on the hunt for new broadband estates, hence the acquisition of Earth with its sizeable base.”
Barnett concluded, “We are excited about the potential of this acquisition and look forward to welcoming Earth’s team and customers into the TAL family. We remain committed to providing environmentally-friendly and high-quality broadband services to our customers.”
