“Dagrofa Denmark is set to become a part of EMD’s Retail Group.”

European Marketing Distribution (EMD), a leading international retail alliance, is expanding its collaboration with A-brand industry in Scandinavia with the integration of renowned Danish retailer, Dagrofa. This move will offer even more benefits to EMD’s millions of retail customers.

Dagrofa, which has been a member of EMD since 2002, will officially become a part of the EMD Retail Group in 2026. This group includes prominent retailers from Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland, as well as EMD’s recently announced integration of Swedish retailer Axfood.

As part of the EMD Retail Group, Dagrofa will work with other successful retail companies in their respective home countries to promote and market top brand products that are essential for customers in international retail. This collaboration also involves working with leading multinational A-brand manufacturers to develop and market country-specific variations and innovations of these A-brands.

Jesper Bjerring, Chief Procurement Officer at Dagrofa, shared his thoughts on this strategic move, “Joining the EMD Retail Group is a major step for Dagrofa. It will provide us with access to new insights, cross-border partnerships, and international brand concepts that will benefit both our customers and independent retailers in Denmark. The cooperative and value-oriented approach of the EMD Retail Group aligns perfectly with our long-term goal of being a trusted partner for the A-brand industry.”

Philippe Gruyters, Managing Director of EMD, also expressed his excitement about the collaboration with Dagrofa, “With Dagrofa on board, we can strengthen our cooperation with the A-brand industry in Scandinavia, just like our successful history of collaboration on Private Label. With Dagrofa and Axfood, we can expand our strong offering in the highly dynamic Scandinavian market.”

EMD, headquartered in Switzerland, has been a trusted partner for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) since 1989. It specializes in developing and procuring sustainable and efficient private label concepts for consumers. The company also supports and implements global partnerships with the largest international A-brand manufacturers.

Including associate member Lotte from South Korea, EMD’s member companies in Europe and Asia represent an external retail consumer turnover of approximately 200 billion euros in 16 countries. These countries include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
