“Double the impact of Christmas donations and empower individuals with learning disabilities with stronger voices and increased independence.”

CASBA Advocacy, a Birmingham-based charity, has been chosen for the third year in a row to participate in the UK-wide Big Give #ChristmasChallenge. This means that any donations made to the charity through the Big Give platform between December 3rd and 10th will be doubled, making a bigger impact in supporting adults with learning disabilities.

According to CASBA Advocacy, people with learning disabilities are one of the most disadvantaged groups in society, facing financial exclusion, social marginalization, discrimination, and health inequalities. These problems require a holistic approach, and without an advocate, they can seem insurmountable. CASBA Advocacy’s advocates help individuals understand their options, ensure their voices are heard, and know their rights. But the charity cannot do it alone, and with the public’s support and donations, they can recruit and train more advocates to make an even bigger impact.

Several adults with learning disabilities have shared how CASBA Advocacy has made a difference in their lives. B, who was able to complete their studies with the charity’s support, says, “CASBA helped me stand up for my right to education.” M, a young self-advocate, adds, “At CASBA Advocacy’s Self-Advocate group, we talk about things that affect our lives.” Similarly, J shares, “Before CASBA, I wouldn’t talk to anyone, now I want to tell people what is possible with CASBA Advocacy’s help.”

If you’d like to support CASBA Advocacy in making a difference to even more lives, you can double your donation by visiting their BIG GIVE donation page at https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a056900002TPV05AAH. The money raised will go towards recruiting and training more advocates and helping people with learning disabilities live as equal citizens.

CASBA Advocacy’s CEO, Ginny Cullen, says, “We want to create a society where people with learning disabilities have stronger voices and more independence. With the support of the public and our generous donors, we can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.”

The charity, which was established in September 1988, is a registered charity with Charity Reg No: 701365.
