National driving school, driveJohnson’s, based in Milton Keynes, has announced the launch of their new Drive Against Cancer Scheme. This initiative aims to provide free driving lessons to young people who are currently battling cancer.
The Director of driveJohnson’s, Anthony Johnson, has a personal connection to the cause as he lost his father to cancer and his mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier this year. In honor of his loved ones and to show support for other cancer patients and their families, Anthony participated in the London Marathon and raised over £4500 for Young Lives Vs Cancer. However, he wanted to do more and thus came up with the idea for the Drive Against Cancer Scheme.
Through this scheme, Young Lives Vs Cancer will recommend a young person with cancer to driveJohnson’s, who will then receive up to 50 hours of free driving lessons from one of the driving school’s instructors in their local area.
The first beneficiary of the Drive Against Cancer Scheme is 18-year-old Danika Hill, who is based in Milton Keynes. Danika was overjoyed when she found out that she would be receiving free driving lessons. She said, “I was shocked. I couldn’t believe anyone would want to give me free driving lessons, let alone 50 hours of them! […] I couldn’t find the words, I felt so thankful.”
DriveJohnson’s is closely following Danika’s progress and hopes to extend the scheme to more young people as it gains momentum.
