“Experience the Grand Display of the Iconic London Routemaster Double-Decker Bus at the Largest Gathering”

London, UK – The iconic Routemaster bus, RM1, will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2024. To mark this milestone, the Routemaster Association is excited to announce the upcoming event, RM70, to be held at Chiswick Park in London on July 20th and 21st, 2024.

RM70 will be the largest gathering of Routemaster buses in over a decade, offering visitors a unique opportunity to see and even ride these historic vehicles. The event will take place at Chiswick Park, the site where trainee drivers were once trained on the infamous Chiswick skid pan.

With record numbers of buses already booked to attend, RM70 promises to be a memorable event for all. Photographers will have the chance to capture a line-up of 70 preserved Routemaster buses on display, making for a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.

In addition to the impressive line-up and free rides, RM70 will also feature trade stands and a converted Routemaster bus turned into a bar. Chiswick Park was chosen as the venue for this event due to its historical connection to the Routemaster bus. Before the modern business park was built, the site was home to one of London Transport’s main bus overhaul works and was known for its skid pan, where trainee drivers were tested.

“The Routemaster Association was formed in 1988 with the aim of supporting new owners who had started to acquire examples of this London icon following the commencement of large-scale withdrawals from London service,” said David Lee, Press & PR Officer for the Routemaster Association. “Our principal aims are to share knowledge and operating experience, provide technical information, and help with obtaining spare parts. Our membership includes enthusiasts and prominent figures from the transport industry and bus preservation movement.”
