Flora Dunn, the author, has announced that she will be donating a portion of her book sales to the DSM Foundation, a charity focused on drug education.

DSM Foundation Partners with Lumina Publications to Support Drug Education Work

London, 25 November 2024 – The DSM Foundation, a leading drug education charity, has announced a new partnership with Lumina Publications. Under this partnership, £1 from every sale of Flora Dunn’s latest book, ‘Summer at Tillingford Hall’, will be donated to the charity to support its work in educating young people about drugs.

This marks the first time the DSM Foundation has joined forces with a publishing company for fundraising purposes. The partnership was initiated by the book’s author, Primavera Moretti, who writes under the pen name Flora Dunn. “As a mother of teens, I was deeply moved by Fiona’s story and wanted to support her in her efforts to educate young people about drugs,” says Ms. Moretti.

She adds, “As a professional fundraiser, I have noticed the challenges faced by small charities in raising funds. I wanted to do my part in reversing this trend by creating an additional source of income that I could donate to a worthy cause.”

The DSM Foundation’s founder and director, Fiona Spargo-Mabbs, expresses her gratitude to Ms. Moretti for choosing the charity as the beneficiary of her book. She praises the book’s handling of the sensitive topic of drugs, saying, “The drug-related storyline, woven into the romantic plot, is a fitting match for our charity’s mission to prevent drug-related harm among young people.”

Editors can find additional information about the DSM Foundation below:

The DSM Foundation is a drug education charity founded in 2014 after the tragic death of 16-year-old Daniel Spargo-Mabbs from an accidental overdose of ecstasy. His family realized that there was a lack of resources and support available to schools, and they did not want other families to go through the pain they had experienced. The charity’s goal is to provide young people with relevant, evidence-based information about drugs so they can make informed decisions to keep themselves and their peers safe.

The DSM Foundation currently works with around 750 schools, colleges, and community organizations across England and Scotland. They offer workshops for parents and caregivers, as well as training for school and college staff. The charity also provides educational resources for schools to deliver drug education through PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) lessons. Schools and colleges can also access a verbatim play, “I Love You Mum, I Promise I Won’t Die,” written by Mark Wheeller, which tells Dan’s story through the words of his family and friends. The play is a GCSE Drama set text on the Eduqas syllabus and can also be booked for a Theatre in Education performance.
