Canada Super60 League Appoints Former Scotland Captain Kyle Coetzer as Assistant Tournament Director
Toronto, Canada – The Canada Super60 League is proud to announce its latest appointment, former Scotland captain and winner of the prestigious ICC Associate Cricketer of the decade, Kyle Coetzer. Coetzer will serve as the league’s Assistant Tournament Director for Cricket Development & Operations.
Coetzer is a decorated leader and a strong advocate for the growth of Associate Nations in cricket. He brings unparalleled experience to the league, having captained Scotland to historic victories and played a key role in championing the development of emerging cricketing nations. His expertise will be instrumental in shaping the vision of Canada Super60.
Currently serving as a women’s cricket coach for Durham County Cricket Club and the Welsh Fire in The Hundred, Coetzer also consults for the England Women’s A team. His expertise aligns perfectly with Canada Super60’s mission to develop both men’s and women’s cricket from the ground up. With a deep understanding of grassroots development, associate cricket, and international competition, Coetzer is well-equipped to create strong pathways for young players – both boys and girls – helping them progress towards a professional career.
In a statement, Kyle Coetzer shared his excitement for his new role, saying “I have always enjoyed my time in Canada, and I strongly believe that cricket has a massive future in this country. The ten-over format is the perfect way to introduce new audiences, especially kids, to the game in an exciting and fast-paced manner. More importantly, I see this league as a real boost for cricketers from Associate nations – both men and women – who need more opportunities to showcase their talent and experience high-quality competition. My role will be to ensure that Canada Super60 provides excellent infrastructure, top tier cricket facilities, and a professional environment where every player walks away feeling that they have gained valuable experience. This league has the potential to be a game-changer, and I look forward to working alongside the team to make it a massive success.”
Abhishek Shah, Founder and Managing Director of Canada Super60, expressed his enthusiasm for Coetzer’s appointment, saying “Kyle Coetzer has served the game in multiple capacities – as a player, captain, coach, and ambassador for Associate cricket. His deep understanding of high-performance development and his dedication to growing the sport make him the ideal person to lead our cricket development initiatives. Canada Super60’s core objective is to provide a professional platform for young cricketers, both male and female, and Kyle’s leadership will be invaluable in achieving this vision.”
The Canada Super60 League, a flagship venture of Cricket Canada, will launch its inaugural season in July 2025. As the first professional league in North America to feature both men’s and women’s competition from its inception, the tournament will bring together top international and domestic talent in an electrifying ten-over format. The league aims to provide young athletes with professional opportunities and engage new fans with an exciting, fast-paced version of cricket.
With a strong commitment to world-class facilities and player experience, Canada Super60 aims to become a premier destination for cricketing talent from across the globe.
