“Golden Moment Takes Home Top Honors at World Sports Photography Awards”

Photographer Jerome Brouillet has won the prestigious World Sports Photography Awards for his stunning image of Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina at the 2024 Olympic Games in Teahupo’o, French Polynesia. This photograph, capturing a perfect moment of athlete, spectacle, and photographer, was selected as the overall winner out of 24 winning images from various sports categories.

Brouillet, a French photographer based in Tahiti, was one of over 2,200 professional sports photographers from 96 countries who submitted their work to this year’s competition. The World Sports Photography Awards are the only global awards specifically for sports photography, judged by leading figures from the worlds of sport, media, photography, and creative industries.

Sophie Collins, Chief Marketing Officer at MPB and judge for the awards, expressed her admiration for this year’s entries, stating, “Sports photography holds a unique power to freeze dynamic action and evoke profound emotion in a single frame, capturing stories that transcend the boundaries of the playing field.” She also praised the talent and creativity of this year’s participants, setting a high standard for future competitions.
