Grünenthal PRO has announced its participation in SHL Medical’s alliance partnership network, which will now provide final assembly services for the Molly® autoinjector.

Grünenthal PRO, the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) division of Grünenthal, has announced a new partnership with SHL Medical, a world-leading solutions provider of advanced drug delivery systems. This collaboration will see Grünenthal PRO offering final assembly, packaging, and labeling services for SHL’s Molly® autoinjector.

The partnership will see Grünenthal PRO expanding its capacity for final assembly of SHL autoinjectors by installing additional assembly lines at its facility in Origgio, Italy in 2026. These new lines, which are pre-validated for SHL’s Molly® 1.0 and 2.25 mL autoinjector platform, will help increase speed-to-market for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Grünenthal PRO has over 10 years of experience in providing SHL autoinjector assembly services.

“Speed-to-market is crucial in today’s biopharma landscape,” says Victor Barbosa, Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Grünenthal. “With our extensive expertise in autoinjector assembly and the new high-speed line launching in 2026, Grünenthal is uniquely positioned to offer agile, large-scale solutions. Our collaboration with SHL further strengthens this capability, solidifying our role as a trusted CDMO partner for injectable therapies worldwide.”

Molly® is a single-dose autoinjector that uses modular platform technology, making it easier for pharma and biotech companies to reduce initial investments and accelerate timelines. It has a proven track record in combination product approvals and is designed to meet the evolving requirements of future autoinjectors.

Markus Puusepp, SHL Medical’s Chief Growth Officer, commented on the partnership: “This new collaboration builds on several years of successful project cooperation between SHL Medical and Grünenthal PRO for joint customers. We are excited to deepen our partnership by officially welcoming Grünenthal PRO as a strategic partner, further strengthening our trusted relationship.”

The new Molly® autoinjector assembly line, to be installed by Grünenthal PRO, will be procured from SHL Advantec, a sub-group of SHL Medical and a global provider of high-performance, fully integrated precision tooling and advanced automation solutions for the healthcare sector and other industries.
