Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen, Joe Lycett, Alan Cumming, and Courtney Love have joined a Scottish cancer charity art project.

Tuesday 21 May, 2024 – In a powerful display of art and advocacy, the “Beermats for Balls” online auction has brought together globally renowned artists and celebrities to raise awareness and support for testicular cancer education. The auction, which runs until May 26th, features unique artworks from esteemed artists such as Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ian McKellen, Joanna Lumley, Joe Lycett, and Alan Cumming.

The initiative, organized by Cahonas Scotland, aims to promote early detection of testicular cancer and support those affected by the disease. The auction features miniature masterpieces crafted on beermats by art world icons including Julian Opie, Ralph Steadman, Kaffe Fassett, Patrick Hughes, Anne Desmet, Anita Klein, Norman Ackroyd, and the Miaz Brothers.

Ritchie Marshall, founder of Cahonas Scotland, was inspired to launch the campaign after a simple sketch on a beermat. He comments, “The enthusiastic and generous participation of such high-profile figures significantly amplifies our voice in the fight against testicular cancer. It is inspiring to see how creativity fused with celebrity influence can propel an important health message to a wider audience.”

The “Beermats for Balls” campaign not only showcases the artistic talents of its participants but also spreads a crucial message to communities. All proceeds from the auction will directly support Cahonas Scotland’s educational programs and support services for those affected by testicular cancer.
