London is preparing for its biggest outdoor celebration of Christmas carols and festive music as they invite everyone to join in for the Big Christmas Wind Orchestra and Choir. Taking place on Sunday 10th December from 1pm onwards at Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, the event promises to be a truly magical experience.
Over 300 musicians will come together to play wind, brass or percussion instruments or sing. Absolutely everyone is welcome to participate in this special once-a-year event, with no experience or rehearsal necessary. Event co-ordinator Adam Funnell said: “Do you have an instrument that’s sat in the cupboard gathering dust for too long? Do you love to sing around the house or in the shower, and wish to join a bigger group? Then we’d love for you to come and join our huge Christmas performance!”
The group will perform a selection of well-known carols and Christmas favourites, led by musical director Matthew Hardy. The event is free to attend, and anyone interested can register online. It is hoped that the experience of performing in a huge group will inspire people to make music all year round, with Making Music providing information on leisure time music making after the event.
For anyone looking to add some festive sparkle to their Christmas celebrations, the Big Christmas Wind Orchestra and Choir is the perfect way to do it.
