The Motel One Group, a leading budget design hotel chain, has reported strong growth in all areas for the first half of 2025. The group’s revenue increased by 7.5% to €486 million and the number of contractually secured hotels grew to 134, with nearly 38,000 rooms. This is a testament to the group’s dynamic development, both internationally and economically.
Furthermore, the group’s portfolio now includes hotels in Paris and Vienna, as well as a market entry in Lisbon, showcasing the group’s European expansion strategy. The company’s lifestyle brand, The Cloud One Hotels, has also doubled its portfolio, with the number of operating properties increasing from three to six.
The concept of The Cloud One Hotels appeals to urban explorers seeking a design-led atmosphere and distinctive ambience. The brand currently has locations in New York, Hamburg, Gdańsk, and Prague. In total, the group now operates 55 hotels outside of Germany, an increase of six compared to the previous year. The proportion of international rooms in the secured portfolio has risen to 40%, demonstrating the group’s global reach.
In the third quarter, the Motel One Group will open its latest hotel, Motel One Paris–Porte de Versailles, continuing its urban expansion in Europe. Additionally, the group is set to open another Motel One property in Vienna’s Donau City and its first hotel in Portugal, The Cloud One Lisbon, in 2025.
Stefan Lenze, Co-CEO of the Motel One Group, says, “Travel to Europe’s cities is back, and our hotels are the perfect place for it: central, stylish, and affordable.”
Despite the absence of major one-off events such as the European Football Championship and international trade fairs, which boosted last year’s results, the group’s revenue increased by 7.5% to €486 million in the second quarter. Occupancy remained stable at 69% and revenue per available room (TRevPAR) improved to €96.
Management EBITDA also rose to €113 million, exceeding the previous year’s figure. “Our brand proves its appeal even without major events – that’s a genuine stress test we have passed with flying colours,” says Lenze.
The Motel One Group was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Munich. The company has won multiple awards for its concept and is considered the pioneer of the budget design hotel category. It currently operates 100 hotels with 28,197 rooms in 13 countries. The brand is known for its fair prices, stylish design, and first-class comfort, setting new standards in the budget design hotel segment. The hotels are characterized by their central locations, modern rooms with high-quality amenities, and inviting public areas featuring sophisticated design and art. In 2022, the group launched its second lifestyle brand, The Cloud One Hotels.
