Cumbria Community Foundation Offers Grants to Improve Community Resilience to Flooding and Emergencies

Cumbria, UK – Cumbria Community Foundation, a leading charitable organization, is offering grants of up to £2,000 for community groups to improve their resilience to flooding and other emergencies. This initiative is part of the Cumbria Innovative Flood Resilience (CiFR) project, which is funded by Defra and delivered through the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Innovation Programmes.

The funding offered by Cumbria Community Foundation can be utilized for equipment and training to enhance local resilience against flooding and other emergencies. Community groups, including town and parish councils, are eligible to apply for these grants. To be eligible, the group must have a community emergency plan in place or be actively working on one, and must also consider flood risk as part of their plan.

The CiFR team is available to provide assistance to interested groups in developing their community emergency plans. Groups can email CiFR@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk to be connected with the appropriate support person.
