Southend Foodbank is delighted to announce that Jack Leech, owner of JL Fitness Online Coaching, is undertaking a massive fundraising effort throughout the month of October. The initiative, known as ‘Miles for Meals,’ aims to raise over £500 for the Foodbank, and Jack has pledged to run a 5k every day in October to support this cause.
Jack has already completed half of his daily runs and today, he ran the 5k to the Southend Foodbank warehouse to volunteer his time and support. As a fitness coach, Jack is passionate about giving back to his community and making a positive impact on people’s lives. He believes that this is the foundation of his work and is what motivates him every day.
In a statement, Jack said, “I want my business to be known as one that not only helps my clients but also gives back to the wider community. That’s why I am running 5k every day in October to raise money for Southend Foodbank. Every donation, big or small, will go towards a fantastic cause, and I am grateful for every contribution and share. Let’s smash it!”
Since the beginning of 2024, Southend Foodbank has been spending over £10,000 a month on food to support the increasing demand for emergency food parcels. The organization relies on donations from local families, churches, businesses, schools, and community groups to continue their vital work.
According to Foodbank Community Fundraiser Sam Stimson, “Supporting initiatives like Jack’s Miles for Meals Challenge ensures that everyone in the community who needs emergency food can access it. Donations from Jack’s challenge will directly support Southend Foodbank in providing essential funds for three-day emergency food parcels.”
Southend Foodbank currently has eight distribution points throughout the city to better serve those in need. For more information, please visit their website.
Stimson also expressed her gratitude for the ongoing support from the local community, saying, “All of us at Southend Foodbank are incredibly grateful for those who are collecting donations for us throughout Southend and Rochford, as well as those who are currently undertaking harvest collections for us. Without their support, the Foodbank would not be able to help those in desperate need. We truly appreciate the generosity of our community, and we urge anyone who can donate to do so at the link below and support Jack and Southend Foodbank this winter.”
