Legacy Youth Zone and Babyzone Join Forces to Combat Parental Loneliness Through Providing a Free Safe Space

Legacy Youth Zone and Babyzone have joined forces to combat parental loneliness by creating a free safe space for parents and their children aged 0-5 years old. Offering physical spaces for parents to connect with other parents and access resources, this partnership is making a significant impact on the well-being of parents and their children.

Myke Catterall, COO of Legacy Youth Zone said “We understand there is a need for somewhere like this in the community as the cost of living crisis is limiting these social interactions even more so than before. We will continue to help as much as we possibly can.”

Jessica Barnaschone, Head of Babyzone Croydon added “Babyzone has played a crucial role in preventing loneliness in the boroughs in which we operate. Over 200 families visit their local Babyzone each week in which 55% of these families are from disadvantaged backgrounds. Which is what makes our work so important in giving families opportunities they might not be able to access otherwise.”

Parenthood often comes with its own set of challenges, and one of these is the feeling of isolation and loneliness. To address this issue, Legacy Youth Zone and Babyzone have created a unique partnership which gives parents the opportunity to come together, share experiences, and form lasting connections. With free access to resources such as parenting workshops and early childhood development classes, parents can benefit from a range of informative sessions aimed at enhancing their skills and confidence.

The initiative also provides a place for children to play, run and read, and they offer a range of free classes throughout the day for babies and toddlers. By addressing parental loneliness, Legacy Youth Zone and Babyzone hope to create a positive ripple effect within the community which will contribute to a healthier and happier community overall.
