Gas Call Services has announced its collaboration with National Energy Action (NEA) to launch an initiative to tackle fuel poverty and ensure vulnerable households in the North East have access to safe and reliable heating.
The Annual Fuel Poverty Statistics Report from 2023 projects that 14.4 per cent (3.53 million) of low-income households would live in a property with a fuel poverty energy efficiency rating (FPEER) of band C or better and the average fuel poverty gap would rise by 31 per cent in real terms to £443 (in 2022 prices).
In an effort to address this problem, Gas Call Services and NEA have teamed up to provide free combination boiler installations to eligible households.

To apply for the fund, individuals must meet certain criteria. These include being a Guarantee Credit Recipient, low-income with high energy costs, over 65, have a child under 5 in the household, or have a long-term illness or disability exacerbated by the cold.
The project will provide free boiler installations to eligible households, breaking the cycle of fuel poverty, reducing energy bills, and improving the quality of life for those in need.
The fund is open to applicants in the North East and will expire in March 2024. To apply, individuals can visit the GasCall website.
