On Tuesday 25 February 2025, the Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir announced their upcoming “Taster Evening” event to be held at the Hogs Back Brewery on Wednesday 16th April at 6:30 p.m. This event aims to encourage more men to join the choir and experience the joy of singing.
Following a successful event held in Camberley in 2024, which resulted in 15 new members permanently joining the choir, the Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir is now extending the invitation to men in Farnham and its surrounding areas. The event will be held at the Hogs Back Brewery, an iconic local venue known for its Surrey beers. The choir welcomes both experienced singers and those who haven’t sung since their school days to try out a fun evening of singing. There is no audition required and no need to be able to read music. Participants will also receive a free drink, snack, and a short singing session led by the choir’s talented Music Director, Philip Viveash-Brainch. The event is free of charge, but pre-booking is required for catering purposes and can be done at https://www.trybooking.com/uk/ECIV.
Chairman of the Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir, Peter Viveash, expressed his excitement for the event, stating, “We are passionate about spreading the word to men about the physical and mental health benefits of singing in a choir.” He also reassured potential participants, saying, “No one should be nervous about trying us out – we have a great deal of fun while being expertly tutored and supported by our Music Director.”
The choir hopes to attract more men to join their group and experience the camaraderie and sense of community that comes with singing together. They believe that singing has numerous benefits, including improving mental health and well-being, boosting confidence, and reducing stress. The “Taster Evening” event at the Hogs Back Brewery is the perfect opportunity for men in Farnham and its surrounding areas to try out singing in a choir and potentially become part of the Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir family.
