Last night, Boisdale of Canary Wharf in London hosted the 11th annual Boisdale Music Awards, a celebration of some of the greatest names in the worlds of soul, jazz, blues, rock, reggae and pop. The event was hosted by Boisdale’s Patron of Music, Jools Holland, alongside musician and broadcaster, YolanDa Brown.
The evening featured an array of unique and unforgettable performances, from Kathy Sledge’s We Are Family to a surprise finale featuring Jools Holland and his band joining forces with soul superstar Gregory Porter for a rendition of Muddy Waters’ Hoochie Coochie Man. Big Narstie presented Courtney Courtney with the Rising Star Award, and Mud Morganfield held the audience in awe with a performance of his father Muddy Waters’ Mannish Boy.
The other winners included Alabama 3, Polly Gibbons, Shalamar, UB40, The Cuban Brothers, PP Arnold, Howard Hewett, The Brand New Heavies, Suzi Quatro & KT Tunstall, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Snow and Gregory Porter.
The guests were then treated to a sumptuous three-course dinner, and after the awards, danced the night away to legendary Mi-Soul DJ Ronnie Herel. The venue is also known for its award-winning wine list, its spirit collection, cigar humidor, garden terrace and more.
