On November 25th, White Ribbon Day advocates for men to take action in preventing violence against women and girls with the hashtag #ItStartswithMen.

White Ribbon Day, the internationally recognized day to end violence against women and girls, will be marked by many organizations and individuals across England and Wales on November 25th, 2024. This year’s theme, “It Starts with Men,” encourages men to hold themselves accountable and address the attitudes and behaviors that contribute to a culture of violence against women.

According to White Ribbon UK, violence against women and girls takes many forms and can range from seemingly harmless behaviors and words to more extreme acts of violence. This normalization of harmful attitudes and behaviors must be addressed in order to create a safer environment for women.

Anthea Sully, Chief Executive of White Ribbon UK, emphasized the importance of men taking action and creating positive cultural change. “All too often, the responsibility is placed on women and girls to keep themselves safe. We need this to change. All men can make a difference so that women and girls can live their lives free from fear and violence,” Sully said.

On White Ribbon Day, individuals and organizations can show their support by participating in various activities and events. These include White Ribbon dedicated matches from the Premier League, English Football League, and National League, as well as local council activities and awareness campaigns across England and Wales. White Ribbons will also be displayed on ticket vending machines in train stations and on trains.
