A new survey of 2,000 adults has revealed that over half (52%) of Britons suffer from regular physical pain, with 35% saying that it affects their ability to exercise. The survey also found that just over one third (34%) struggle to sleep due to their pain. Furthermore, almost a quarter (24%) said that it inhibits their ability to travel in a car for long distances.
Commenting on the findings, Dr. Karen Morton, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, said: “Pain is a common problem, and it can be really debilitating. It’s important to take steps to manage it and not just suffer in silence.”
New research has revealed that millions of Britons are suffering from physical pain which is impacting their ability to exercise, sleep and travel.
The survey of 2,000 adults found that 52% reported some kind of regular physical pain such as back troubles, arthritis or skin conditions. 35% said this affected their ability to exercise, 34% said it impacted their sleep and 24% said it prevented them from travelling in a car for long distances.
Commenting on the findings, Dr. Karen Morton, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist said: “Pain is a common problem, and it can be really debilitating. It’s important to take steps to manage it and not just suffer in silence.”
Dr. Morton added: “There are lots of options available, from lifestyle changes like exercise or yoga, to medication or therapy, so it’s worth talking to your doctor about which one might be right for you.”
The survey also found that the most common physical pains were back (19%), joint (17%), neck (15%), headache (14%), and hip (10%) pain.
