EUROJET Consortium Appoints New CEO to Lead the Way for Future Success
Hallbergmoos, Germany – The EUROJET Consortium, responsible for managing the EJ200 engine programme, has announced the appointment of Ralf Breiling as the new Chief Executive Officer of EUROJET Turbo GmbH (EUROJET). This decision was made by the shareholders of the consortium and will be effective as of July 1, 2024. Breiling will be taking over the position from Gerhard Bähr, who has led the consortium since July 2020 and is set to retire.
With a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Breiling brings over three decades of experience and a proven track record of leadership in the aerospace industry. He has held various managerial roles at BMW-Rolls Royce GmbH, MTU Aero Engines GmbH, MTU Maintenance Hannover GmbH, and MTU Turbomeca Rolls-Royce ITP GmbH (MTRI). During his time in these positions, Breiling was instrumental in driving innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and achieving substantial business growth. His experience covers multiple engine programmes, including the BR715, EJ200, TP400, and MTR390. Most recently, he led MTRI as Managing Director until 2018.

EUROJET Consortium is made up of shareholders Rolls-Royce (UK), MTU Aero Engines (Germany), ITP Aero (Spain), and Avio Aero (Italy). The consortium is responsible for managing the EJ200 engine programme, known for its outstanding and innovative technology. The engine has continually demonstrated exceptional performance in the Eurofighter Typhoon. With its unprecedented performance record, multi-role capability, and highest availability at competitive life-cycle costs, the EJ200 engine is perfectly positioned to meet the air force requirements of today and the future.
Since the first production engine was delivered in 2003, over a thousand EJ200 production engines have been delivered to Air Force customer fleets in nine nations. The engine has achieved over 1.5 million flying hours, solidifying its reputation for exceptional performance and reliability.
