FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kempten, Germany – In a groundbreaking partnership, Rebike, Germany’s largest e-bike refurbisher, and BusinessBike, a company leasing specialist, have joined forces to offer used and professionally refurbished e-bikes in the popular company bike leasing programme. This collaboration marks a significant step towards a circular economy and provides customers with an affordable and sustainable alternative. The refurbished e-bikes are now available in Germany at rebike.com/de/business-bike.
Employees now have an attractive option for acquiring an e-bike through BusinessBike’s company bike leasing programme, which now includes refurbished models from Rebike, the German market leader. This allows customers to combine the benefits of a refurbished e-bike with those of a company bike. After the end of the leasing contract, e-bikes are returned to BusinessBike and then professionally refurbished through Rebike’s Premium Refurbishment Programme. This process, which involves over 100 steps, ensures that the e-bikes are as good as new and up to 40% cheaper than buying a new one. The refurbished e-bikes are then offered again in the company bike leasing programme, providing customers with a second lease of life and further savings compared to buying directly. The process is available on the rebike.com website.
The partnership between Rebike and BusinessBike is a significant milestone towards sustainable and circular economy. The two companies are closing a real cycle with their high-quality standards, allowing for multiple cycles of refurbishment and leasing – a win-win situation for the environment and all e-bikers.
Sustainable consumption is a growing trend, with 37% of prospective buyers considering a refurbished e-bike for sustainability reasons (Focus E-Bike Study 2023). Reuse is already a popular practice for smartphones and laptops, and with a growing range of options, more and more people are considering it for e-bikes as well.
“We are seeing an increasing number of people becoming conscious of the impact of their purchasing behavior and looking for alternatives. Refurbishment and reuse are smart choices, especially for e-bikes. Customers can get a technically equivalent product at a significantly lower price while also protecting the environment. Reuse is a trend, and refurbished e-bikes will soon become a standard offering in the bicycle industry. With our partner BusinessBike, we are taking the next step towards making the switch to a refurbished e-bike even more attractive through company bike leasing. Our customers benefit in many ways, and e-bikes will be used for much longer,” explains Thomas Bernik, CEO and co-founder of Rebike.
Rolf Höring, Managing Director of BusinessBike, shares this sentiment: “The collaboration with Rebike is another milestone on our journey to make bicycles an environmentally friendly alternative that is easily accessible to as many people as possible, while also making a positive contribution to the planet. Sustainability and circularity are crucial to our mission, and we are thrilled to be able to give a second lease of life to bikes that have been returned from company bike leasing programmes. Every refurbished e-bike that finds a new owner saves resources and takes us one step closer to a greener future.”
