Renchi Bicknell, Brian Catling and Iain Sinclair to open Exhibition of Histories & Hauntings on Opening Night

Swedenborg House Gallery is delighted to announce the opening of a new exhibition, Histories & Hauntings, on Friday 13th October. This show draws together a mixture of paintings, archival material, found objects, prints and photographs by Renchi Bicknell, B. Catling and Iain Sinclair. This is the third in a trilogy of staged interventions by Brian Catling and Iain Sinclair at Swedenborg House and is a reprisal of Albion Island Vortex, an exhibition held fifty years ago at the Whitechapel Gallery.

The opening night will be from 6pm-9pm and admission is free. Those wishing to attend should RSVP to info@swedenborg.org.uk or book via Eventbrite. The exhibition will run from 13th October to 22nd December.

A limited-edition publication has also been created to accompany the show, with texts (prose, poetry and academic) by Iain Sinclair, B. Catling, Renchi Bicknell, Claudia Barton, Steve Dilworth, Gareth Evans, Allen Fisher, Victor Rees, Matthew Shaw and Carol Williams.

Events are also planned for the exhibition including a screening of The Gourmet (1984) with a screenplay by Kazuo Ishiguro, introduced by Victor Rees and a conversation with the director Michael Whyte and Iain Sinclair. There will also be a collage of readings and screenings by Claudia Barton, Renchi Bicknell, Jack Catling, Allen Fisher, Andrew Kötting, Matthew Shaw and Iain Sinclair.
