Shiftmove, an industry leader, has successfully recruited Taco van der Leij to accelerate their expansion in France and revolutionize their fleet management strategy.

Shiftmove Appoints New Senior Vice President International

Berlin/Aix-en-Provence, 20.03.2025 – Shiftmove, a leading player in the European fleet management market, has announced the appointment of Taco van der Leij as their new Senior Vice President International. Van der Leij, who previously served as the leader of Webfleet Europe for six years, brings with him 15 years of experience in the fleet industry. This strategic move by Shiftmove signals a shift in the industry towards a more software- and AI-driven approach to fleet optimization, leaving behind the hardware complexities of traditional telematics.

Van der Leij’s appointment follows the acquisition of Optimum Automotive, a French fleet technology company, by Shiftmove in October 2024. This acquisition has positioned Shiftmove to disrupt the industry with their innovative AI-powered fleet management software and real-time vehicle data.

“Existing solutions have many limitations leading to fleets not operating at their full potential,” says Taco van der Leij. “Shiftmove is changing that, bringing the speed and intelligence of a tech-driven, AI-powered platform that seamlessly connects vehicle data and transforms the way fleets procure vehicles, manage costs and operate at scale.”

Francine Gervazio, Shiftmove Group CEO, believes that this disruptive approach is necessary in an industry that is becoming increasingly complex. “Authorities are enforcing regulations that add costs and complexity for fleet owners and managers,” she explains. “At Shiftmove, we simplify this reality, breaking industry norms and surpassing the value of traditional solutions.”

Shiftmove’s vision is to become Europe’s market leader in digital mobility solutions by 2027, optimizing the efficiency of over one million fleet vehicles. The company’s expansion into France is a critical step in this journey, leveraging Optimum Automotive’s local expertise and Shiftmove’s AI-driven fleet management solutions.

Van der Leij sees this transition as a unique opportunity to reshape fleet management with software and AI. “I have seen many promises in this industry that never fully materialized,” he reflects. “Traditional players evolve slowly, even as AI adoption accelerates. Shiftmove provides the opportunity to truly reshape fleet management with software and AI.”

In his new role, Van der Leij will have direct influence over strategy and execution in a fast-moving market. “This is a pivotal moment for fleet management in Europe,” says Francine Gervazio. “Taco will lead our expansion into France, driving Shiftmove’s European growth strategy and embracing a unique opportunity to shape the future of mobility operations.”
