UK-based SocialBox.Biz is celebrating a decade of impact during this year’s Refugee Week, which runs from June 17th – 23rd. The community interest company, with a focus on technology, was founded by a former child refugee with the aim of using donated, reused, and old equipment to help underprivileged individuals learn IT skills.
The organization is expanding its efforts to reach more organizations willing to donate their unwanted IT equipment before resorting to scrap recycling. These contributions support various groups, including elderly pensioners, homeless individuals transitioning into permanent housing, and refugees integrating into British society.
One success story from SocialBox.Biz’s work can be found on the Refugee Week website, where a young refugee shares how receiving an old computer transformed their life.
In addition to Refugee Week, this week also marks World Environment Day, observed on June 5th each year. This global event encourages individuals and organizations to take action and raise awareness about environmental issues. SocialBox.Biz and its partners joined in the celebrations by collecting a significant amount of reusable tech from the offices of MadiganGill, a construction company located in central London.
MadiganGill shared their excitement about the partnership on their website, stating, “We are incredibly proud to support SocialBox.Biz and their mission to provide innovative technology solutions to improve the local community.”
SocialBox.Biz is inviting others to join their #EarthDay2024 movement by visiting their website and learning more about their work.
Founded in 2014, SocialBox.Biz is a Community Interest Company that aims to improve the local community through innovative technology solutions. To date, they have helped numerous individuals and organizations by providing them with access to IT equipment and digital skills training.
