London, UK – SocialBox.Biz, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable re-use, is celebrating a decade of partnerships for tech re-use with a large handover of MacBooks and laptops in Camden and London.
On Wednesday 27 November, 2024, SocialBox.Biz will be distributing a significant amount of tech to various organizations, including Age UK City of London, C4WS homeless project in the London Borough of Camden, and The Passage in Westminster City. This initiative aims to support both the environment and the elderly community.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating ten years of impact with our tech re-use initiative,” said Peter Paduh, founder of SocialBox.Biz. “We are calling on additional companies and large organizations to contact us before scrapping their old, but still usable, MacBooks, laptops, and other tech. By doing so, they can reduce their carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the lives of those who cannot afford hardware or software.”
SocialBox.Biz will securely wipe and upgrade donated devices with open source software before delivering them to Age UKs in London. Additionally, companies can sponsor additional students, basic computer classes, and tech labs to further support the community and reduce their scope 3 emissions from old tech. Interested companies are encouraged to contact SocialBox.Biz to discuss further.
With the constant evolution of technology and frequent upgrades, many companies and organizations often find themselves with a surplus of old laptops and MacBooks. Instead of disposing of them, SocialBox.Biz is urging these companies to consider donating them to their cause.
“We have seen first-hand the positive impact that these donations can have on the lives of the elderly,” said Paduh. “We urge companies and organizations to join us in making a difference and to include SocialBox.Biz in their board agendas and annual reports.”
To further showcase the impact of their tech re-use initiative, SocialBox.Biz has shared a number of case studies on their website. These include the October 31st 2024 update for Age UK City of London, celebrating a decade of partnership with C4WS homeless project in Camden and London, and a case study with The Passage in Westminster City.
“Through our partnerships with organizations like Age UK, C4WS, and The Passage, we have been able to provide individuals with access to technology and the digital world, ultimately improving their quality of life,” said Paduh. “We are grateful for the support of our corporate partners and encourage others to join us in our mission to promote sustainable re-use and make a positive impact on our community.”
