SPS Pouches Celebrates Key Sustainability Achievement as UK Prepares for a Circular Economy

SPS Pouches has taken a major step towards a more sustainable packaging future by delivering on its commitment to ensuring all customers have access to flexible packaging that is either fully recyclable or reusable. Through the adoption of mono-material film technology, the company has successfully introduced sustainable packaging solutions that cater to both liquid and dry products—demonstrating that environmental consciousness and high-performance packaging can coexist.

As consumer demand for recyclable packaging continues to grow, the UK Government’s Simpler Recycling initiative is set to improve kerbside collection of flexible packaging over the next few years. With these regulatory changes on the horizon, SPS Pouches is already ahead of the curve, helping brands align their packaging with future requirements. Elliot Hyams, Director at SPS Pouches, explained: “By investing early in fully recyclable mono-material solutions, we’ve put ourselves on the front foot as we move towards a more circular economy. Small brands and startups are under increasing pressure to meet sustainability goals, and we’re here to ensure they don’t have to compromise on quality, functionality, or design with their flexible packaging.”

To further its engagement in the industry, SPS Pouches will attend the 2025 BPF and Plastics Europe Parliamentary Reception at the House of Lords on 4th March, hosted by Lord Harrington of Watford. This gathering of key figures from the plastics and packaging sectors, along with policymakers, will focus on the evolving role of plastics in the UK economy and the path to sustainability. With plastics supporting industries worth £28.7 billion, including food, healthcare, and automotive, SPS Pouches is committed to balancing functionality with environmental responsibility.

Beyond 2025, the company remains dedicated to pushing sustainable innovation forward, with ongoing research into compostable bioplastics and cellulosic films. On their website, they note: “We believe in a waste-free world and hope that your brand can join us on our sustainability journey.”
