Hamburg to Celebrate 836th PORT ANNIVERSARY with Spectacular Shows and Fireworks
Hamburg, Germany – The city of Hamburg will be celebrating its 836th PORT ANNIVERSARY with two new, exciting evening shows, breathtaking fireworks, and spectacular parades featuring majestic windjammers. The event will take place on the floating stage on the river Elbe from Thursday, March 20th to Sunday, March 23rd, 2025.
The grand Arrival Parade will kick off the festivities on Thursday at 1:00 pm, with tall ships such as “Dar Młodzieży” and “Alexander von Humboldt II” and numerous other sailing ships entering the port to the delight of the admiring guests. This spectacular sight will be enhanced by naval vessels, specialised craft, tugboats, motor vessels, historic and museum ships, and countless sport boats.
One of the highlights of the event will be the unique tugboat ballet on Saturday at 3:45 pm, where nimble tugs boasting up to 3000 hp will dance to music on the Elbe in a fascinating choreography.
The evening shows on Friday and Saturday, titled “Elbe in Concert: Harbour at its best!” and “Elbe in Concert: Happy Birthday, Hamburg Harbour!”, respectively, will take place on the floating stage facing the landing stages on the river Elbe. The Friday show will feature a harbour quiz, live music, an XXL choir, and electrifying musical performances, while the Saturday show will have surprise star appearances and a dazzling finale with fireworks and music.
In addition to the shows, guests can also look forward to an exciting programme of events throughout the anniversary weekend, including parades, concerts, and culinary delights. A video message from Hamburg’s First Mayor will also be available for download on the event’s website.
