Head2Head Sensory Theatre, a disabilities charity based in Oxted, Surrey, is set to open its doors to the local community on Wednesday, March 18th, 2025 from 9:30am to 5pm. This event is part of The National Lottery Open Week 2024, and is a way for the organization to thank the community and showcase its new space, The Barn Hub.
The Barn Hub, which received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund in 2024, has recently completed its refurbishment. The space now includes a Memory Cafe for people living with Dementia, a kitchen, a Sensory Room, and an interactive projection system. Founder of Head2Head Sensory Theatre, Anni Rhodes Steere, expressed her gratitude for the funding, stating, “It’s a mark of our appreciation to open our doors for everyone to come and meet our volunteers, find out more about our productions, and experience our new sensory room and Interactive Magic Carpet.”
The Barn Hub has already had a positive impact on the lives of its primary beneficiaries: young people with disabilities and adults living with Dementia. The space hosts regular drama and drumming workshops, live performances, and a monthly Memory Cafe. This unique community project has brought joy and inclusion to many individuals in the community.
During the open day, guests will have the opportunity to drop in anytime between 9:30am and 5pm, enjoy free refreshments, and discover what makes The Barn Hub special thanks to National Lottery Funding. The Barn Hub is just one of over 500 National Lottery-funded venues across the UK that will be opening their doors to say thank you to players. Every week, National Lottery players raise an incredible £30 million for Good Causes, supporting arts, heritage, sports, and community projects across the country.
The Barn Hub is a new, accessible community space in Oxted, Surrey, that is perfect for hosting live productions, group and club meetings, health and wellbeing classes, and community events. The space boasts a spacious, well-lit studio with staging and a ramp, making it ideal for parties and celebrations. It also includes a full kitchen and cafe area with tables and chairs, as well as a Sensory Room for quiet sensory exploration.
