Taicang Day Event Highlights Continued Win-Win Cooperation Between China and Germany
Hamburg, Germany – On Thursday, the city of Hamburg hosted the Taicang Day event, which highlighted the potential for continued win-win cooperation between China and Germany. The event was attended by nearly 200 representatives from Chinese and German business sectors, leaders of German companies, and project stakeholders.
Taicang, a city neighboring Shanghai and spanning approximately 800 square kilometers, is known as the “hometown of German enterprises” in China. It is home to over 530 German companies, making it a hub for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
Zhai Qian, Minister of Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Germany, emphasized the success of Taicang as a prime example of the win-win nature of China-Germany economic and trade cooperation. He also highlighted the potential for further collaboration in emerging fields such as scientific and technological innovation, green and low-carbon development, clean energy, the circular economy, and the digital economy.
Michael Schumann, Chairman of the Board of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade, praised the strong partnership between German companies and their counterparts in Taicang. He stated, “Whether in industrial manufacturing, the automotive sector, environmental technology, or renewable energy, the potential for mutual benefit is immense.” Schumann also noted that this cooperation not only drives economic growth and job creation but also fosters technological advancements and innovations that are crucial in addressing global challenges.
Kersten Janik, President of VAST LLC, shared his belief in the opportunities that Taicang offers for tapping into the Chinese auto market. He stated, “I first worked in China in 1990, and since then, I’ve witnessed the tremendous development in the country’s industry and society. I deeply appreciate this progress, and I believe China is a perfect partner for Germany.”
The Taicang Day event was a successful showcase of the strong cooperation and partnership between China and Germany. It has further solidified the relationship between the two countries and highlighted the potential for continued growth and collaboration in the future.
