Record-Breaking Turnout and Donations at Chilterns Neuro Centre’s Annual Run Prestwood Event
On a beautiful Sunday morning, 263 runners of all ages and skill levels gathered in Prestwood to take part in the Chilterns Neuro Centre’s annual festival of running – Run Prestwood. The event, which featured a 10k race, a 5k fun run, and a 2k race for children, attracted a record-breaking number of participants and raised an incredible £10,300 for the charity.
The Chilterns Neuro Centre, formerly known as the Chilterns MS Centre, provides life-changing services for people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s and strokes. Their rebranding in 2023 opened up their services to a wider range of individuals in need.
“We are immensely grateful to every participant, supporter, volunteer, and sponsor who made today’s race such a wonderful success,” said Danielle Medd, Community and Events Fundraising Manager at the Chilterns Neuro Centre. “It was not only a celebration of physical endurance but also a testament to the supportive nature of our community.”
The women’s 10k race was won by Helen Mulhall of Bearbrook Running Club with a time of 42m 19s, while Adam Shute of Chiltern Harriers Athletic Club took home the title for the men’s 10k race for the second year in a row with a time of 35m 41s. Despite his impressive performance, Shute missed out on equalling his previous year’s time by just one second.
The event would not have been possible without the generous support of its sponsors. Special thanks go to Jeremy Swan Estate Agent for their event sponsorship, Prestwood Gym and Fitness Centre for hosting, and the students of Bucks New University for providing pre- and post-race massages. Tesco in Amersham and Morrisons in Aylesbury also contributed to the event by providing goody bags and water bottles, respectively.
The Rotary Club of Great Missenden and District and the 41 Club played a crucial role in the success of the event by providing essential teams of marshals and volunteers. Their dedication ensured the safety and smooth running of the event for all participants.
