Protective clothing company BitePRO has announced the launch of their latest product, STRONGTEX, a specialized range of advanced anti-ligature clothing. The company, based in Wetherby, United Kingdom, has become highly respected for their dedication to protecting healthcare professionals, public facing professionals, and vulnerable individuals.
Founder and CEO Robert Kaiser expressed the company’s two main objectives in creating STRONGTEX: “Primarily, we wanted to reduce the risk of individuals taking their own lives within healthcare and custodial settings. Secondly, we wanted to achieve that by creating a range of dependable and comfortable anti-ligature clothing.” Kaiser emphasized the importance of comfort in promoting recovery, retaining identity and dignity, and increasing self-worth.
The fabric used in STRONGTEX garments is exceptionally strong and effectively hinders the wearer’s ability to create a long enough piece of ligature to attach to an anchor point or swallow. This is to prevent self-harm or suicides of individuals involuntarily placed in seclusion in healthcare or custodial settings.
Not only is STRONGTEX washable, fire-retardant, and durable, but it has also been rigorously tested against international standards such as ISO 13937 for tear properties. BitePRO plans to add personalization options and anti-ligature bedding to the range in autumn/winter 2024.
