The customers of Cuckoo Internet begin to make their way home.

Home Telecom, a subsidiary of Telecom Acquisitions Group, has officially acquired approximately 11,500 TalkTalk customers from Cuckoo Internet, which has been recognized twice in a row as MoneySavingExpert’s top broadband provider for customer service.

According to TAL Managing Director Nigel Barnett, customers can rest assured that all terms and prices from Cuckoo Internet will remain unchanged. “The actual internet connection through TalkTalk and BT will also remain; it will simply be an account migration at our end. It’s completely seamless and will not impact any services. This was a strategic decision made by Cuckoo owner All Points Fibre, whose goal is to expand further on their own network,” said Barnett.

This acquisition brings the total number of customers managed by TAL to approximately 100,000. So far, eleven Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that offer broadband services to residential customers have signed contracts with TAL for ongoing service and support through partnership or acquisition agreements.

Barnett stated that TAL’s business strategy is to acquire around 3,000 customers per month through organic growth and then expand further through the acquisition of residential bases from broadband providers that wish to focus more on the B2B arena.

“Internet providers are shifting their focus to align with their target markets. New AltNets have entered the market and driven prices down to gain volume sales and cover the costs of their infrastructure. Meanwhile, suppliers are increasing prices annually for their reseller partners,” explained Barnett.

He added, “Smaller resellers offering to fix prices to gain market share have also had a significant impact on the market by being price-sensitive on comparison websites and making unrealistic offers. This, combined with the RPI increase imposed by providers, has led to a 20% decrease in profits for ISPs. This is not sustainable.”

Some of the brands under the TAL umbrella include Home Telecom, which specializes in providing flexible contracts ranging from weekly to two years for tenants and offers services from BT, TalkTalk, Virgin, Sky, and Vodafone, as well as altNets such as CityFibre, MS3, FullFibre, OFNL, Freedom Fibre, and F&W Networks.

Fleur Telecom, another brand under TAL, now supports over 25,000 customers who have been abandoned by larger providers over the years or whose provider has ceased to trade.

Two years ago, TAL also acquired Eclipse Telecom, which now supports 10,000 former KCOM customers outside of the company’s Hull operation.

“Our customers can easily find the best service for them by using our simple postcode checker. With over 10,000 Trust Pilot reviews rated ‘Excellent’ and our company motto ‘we can do better,’ we are constantly striving to improve every day,” concluded Barnett.
