Austrian State Printing Company Subsidiary youniqx Identity Wins Contract for German EU Digital Identity Wallet Infrastructure
Germany – The Austrian State Printing Company’s (OSD) digital subsidiary, youniqx Identity AG, in partnership with A1 Digital International GmbH, CRYPTAS Group, and msg group, has secured a Europe-wide tender for the development of the technical platform for the German EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI-Wallet). The contract was awarded by the German Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation (SPRIND).
The EUDI-Wallet is a crucial step towards a Europe-wide digital identity system, with all EU member states required to provide a national version by the end of 2026. This will allow citizens to prove their personal identity throughout the EU.
“We are honored to have been chosen for this project and see it as a recognition of our expertise in secure digital identity,” said Helmut Lackner, OSD General Director and youniqx Identity CEO.
The partnership between youniqx Identity and SPRIND will focus on building a technical platform that prioritizes security, efficiency, and comprehensive data protection. With extensive experience in digital identity, youniqx Identity is well-equipped to take on this project. The Austrian State Printing Company first presented a prototype for a digital identity app in 2015 and has been consolidating its expertise in this area since 2017 through its digital subsidiary, youniqx Identity AG.
