The Harborne Family Street Carnival, often regarded as the second largest street carnival in the UK after London’s Notting Hill Carnival, is set to make a return on Sunday 22nd June 2025 to celebrate its 28th anniversary. The event, sponsored by Birmingham’s The Priory Hospital, which is part of Circle Health Group, aims to raise funds for local charity Cuppa Squad.
The carnival, which will take place from 10am to 5:30pm, promises a day full of entertainment for all ages. Live music, children’s activities, arts and crafts, and handpicked headline acts will grace the main stage, while fairground rides, charity stalls, and local community groups will also be present.
This year’s carnival, organized by a dedicated team, aims to be the biggest yet, bringing together the community and the city as a whole to celebrate. The event also aims to support the local community by nominating Cuppa Squad as their charitable partner for 2025. Cuppa Squad is a charity dedicated to improving health and wellbeing in Birmingham, and their involvement in the carnival marks the beginning of a three-year partnership.
Silvie Adams, Executive Director of The Priory Hospital, expressed their excitement about being the headline sponsor for the carnival, stating, “We are passionate about the community we serve and know how important community events like this are to improving the health and wellbeing of those attending. It’s an honor for us to be the headline sponsor for 2025 and we look forward to joining partners on Sunday 22nd June for what promises to be an incredible event.”
John Lloyd, representative for Cuppa Squad, also expressed their delight in being in partnership with the Harborne Family Street Carnival, stating, “Local community support is incredibly important, especially when considering the many families and loved ones we want to help in the area. We’d like to thank The Priory Hospital for their kind sponsorship of the carnival, we are proud to be working with both the hospital and the carnival who have been part of the community for many decades.”
Paul Burgess MBE, Harborne Carnival Chair, expressed his pleasure at being able to announce the return of the carnival, stating, “Each year it gets more difficult to organize and the costs go up on everything. However, with the great support of this year’s sponsors, Priory Hospital, we can showcase what is great about living and working in Harborne and the surrounding areas.”
