Today, on Thursday 31 July, 2025, 14 young adventurers hailing from Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire embarked on a remarkable journey – a self-led Explorer Belt expedition spanning the length of Vietnam. This challenging adventure will take them from the bustling city streets of Ho Chi Minh to the peaceful waters of Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam.
The group, consisting of individuals between the ages of 16 and 25, are all Scouts who have taken on the daunting task of navigating, leading, and organizing themselves through a foreign country. Along the way, they will immerse themselves in the local culture and complete meaningful projects, embodying the true spirit of Scouting.
The Explorer Belt is a highly esteemed international award within the Scouting community, designed to push participants out of their comfort zones and teach them invaluable skills such as resilience and self-sufficiency.
This expedition is a true test of the Scouts’ determination and ability to adapt to new challenges. With the support of their leaders and each other, these young adventurers are ready to take on the world and make the most of this life-changing experience. We wish them all the best on their journey and look forward to hearing about their unforgettable adventures upon their return.
