The Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) has launched a new self-assessed and on-demand technical course named ‘No and Low Alcohol Beer Production Course’, aiming to give brewers the knowledge and techniques essential for making excellent no and low alcohol beer.
The course is part of the IBD’s growing educational offering, which reflects the changing needs of the drinks industry. It provides up-to-date information on the science and technology of no and low alcohol beer production, guiding learners through the brewing process from raw materials to packaging. It also includes a downloadable PDF with technical information, such as legal classifications of low and non-alcoholic beers, nutritional information, mashing profiles and yeast types, and a summary of the options for dealcoholisation.
The course has been developed in collaboration with leading brewers, brewing consultants, yeast suppliers and dealcoholisation equipment manufacturers. It has been designed to be engaging, interactive and multimedia, featuring text, videos, animations, quizzes and games. Once learners have completed the course, they will receive a Certificate of Completion.
