Youth Zone in Croydon Provides Free Hot Meals for Members This Winter
In response to the ongoing cost of living crisis, Legacy Youth Zone, part of the Onside Network of Youth Zones in the UK, has announced that it will be providing free hot meals for its members this winter. Thanks to funding from Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), the free meal program will begin in January 2025.
This is not the first time Legacy Youth Zone has offered hot meals to its members. In December 2023, the Youth Zone provided 2,300 young people with hot meals, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the community during difficult times.
Located in Croydon, Legacy Youth Zone offers a safe space for young people aged 8-19 (or up to 25 with additional needs) to socialize and participate in a variety of activities. With an annual membership fee of just £5 and a session fee of only 50p, the Youth Zone is an affordable option for young people in the area. The facilities at Legacy Youth Zone include a fully equipped gym, music room, recording studio, podcast room, art room, and boxing gym, providing a range of opportunities for young people to learn new skills and express themselves.
While hot meals at the Youth Zone typically cost £1, the funding from ICG will cover the cost for all young people who attend this winter. This is a crucial support for families in the area who may be struggling with the cost of living.
Legacy Youth Zone is one of several OnSide Youth Zones in London, alongside West Youth Zone in Hammersmith and Fulham, Unitas in Barnet, and Future Youth Zone in Barking and Dagenham.
