Research from business and residential directory site ukphonebook.com has revealed that the most expensive High Street homes in the UK are located in the Worcestershire village of Broadway. According to the findings, the average price of these properties is over £100,000 more than the next most expensive High Street.
Using data from the Land Registry, accessed via their Orbis service, ukphonebook.com looked at the average price for homes sold on High Streets over the past 10 years to identify the most expensive and cheapest High Streets in the UK.
The most affordable High Street homes can be found in Sunderland, with an average price of just £52,000 – over £800,000 less than the highest. The majority of the top 10 most affordable High Streets are either in the North East or Wales.
Flats are the most popular property type for sale on High Streets, making up 35.4%, followed by terrace properties (30.2%). Detached homes made up 19.4% of all property sales and semi-detached the remaining 14.9%.
Nathan Emerson, CEO of Propertymark commented: “We know that the most expensive homes in England are in the south, so it is expected that this would follow suit when reporting on various other categories or credentials of properties. With populations growing, especially in the south, flats are more common and more affordable when looking to step onto the property ladder. As well as this, new build homes are also being built on available land which is often slightly outside of towns and in turn, high streets.”
