IBD Launches New Operations Management Short Course Series for Beverage Production Professionals
The Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD), the leading provider of technical education in the beverage industry, has announced the launch of a new series of short courses on operations management. This self-assessed and on-demand series is aimed at beverage production professionals, offering them the knowledge and tools necessary for success in today’s workplace.
The Operations Management courses are the latest addition to the IBD’s popular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) short courses for brewers, distillers, and packaging professionals. These courses are designed for individuals looking to enhance their operations management knowledge or advance their career in a management role.
The Operations Management short course series covers a range of topics, including quality management, operations strategy and planning, project management, production management, financial management, supply chain management, world-class manufacturing, and lean operations. These courses can be purchased individually or as a series, with a 25% discount for those who buy the entire series. Each subject is covered in detail, making it easy to understand and applicable to the daily tasks of beverage production professionals.
What sets these courses apart is their focus on technical excellence, without the need for a formal exam. They feature a variety of learning materials, including text, videos, animations, quizzes, and online games, to enhance the learning experience. At the end of each course, participants receive a Certificate of Completion, as well as a document summary of the course contents for future reference.
Kathryn Thomson, Head of Education and Professional Development at the IBD, commented on the launch, saying, “After the successful launch of our dry hopping and gin production short courses earlier this year, I am thrilled to announce the addition of our new operations management course in 2024. This is particularly important as we transition to Chartered status and create more opportunities for individuals to engage in professional development and real-world learning. These short courses are invaluable for anyone seeking a comprehensive and clear overview of operations management. They can serve as a refresher for existing knowledge or act as a springboard for further study and our formal qualifications. I have personally taken this course and found it extremely useful in my day-to-day job, particularly the modules on quality management and financial management. We welcome feedback on future topics that would be most beneficial to our members.”
The IBD has been providing excellence in technical education for professional brewers and distillers since 1886. Today, it offers four levels of globally recognized qualifications, catering to all types of professionals in the industry. With over 100,000 industry professionals having received their technical education through the IBD, it has become a global institution with more than 3,000 members in 90 countries. Each year, around 4,000 professionals take their qualifications, bringing transformational outcomes to both individuals and their businesses.
