Action Bladder Cancer UK (ABC UK) has announced that it is now accepting applications for grants to support research into bladder cancer. This initiative aims to encourage projects that will contribute to improving bladder cancer care, treatment, or diagnosis.
The funding will be available through two schemes: the ABC UK Improving Outcomes for Patients Programme, which offers grants of up to £25,000 and is open to a wide range of applicants, including primary care professionals, urologists, cancer specialists, and researchers. The other scheme is the ABC UK Nursing Grants, which awards up to £10,000 specifically to urology and cancer nurses, recognizing their crucial role in enhancing patient care and treatment pathways.
ABC UK is looking to fund high-quality and stand-alone projects that are directly related to bladder cancer and have clear outcomes aimed at improving knowledge, driving change, exploring new approaches, and, most importantly, enhancing patient outcomes and experiences. The projects can be data-driven, clinic or lab-based, and may also serve as catalysts for further research.
Jeannie Rigby, CEO of ABC UK, expressed her excitement about supporting essential research into bladder cancer. She highlighted that despite its high incidence and mortality rates, bladder cancer has been historically underfunded, resulting in limited advancements in treatment or survival rates over the past thirty years. Rigby emphasized that ABC UK’s mission is to change this by prioritizing and supporting research that can have a significant impact and improve outcomes for bladder cancer patients.
Interested applicants can find more information, including full guidelines and previous research projects supported by ABC UK, on the organization’s website. Applications for ABC UK research grants should be made directly to the organization through the application form on their webpage, and the application window will close on 15 March 2025. Those interested in discussing a proposal further are encouraged to contact ABC UK at info@bladdercanceruk.org.
