Mental Health Matters Launches Transformative Three-Year Strategy to Address Growing Demand
Today, Mental Health Matters (MHM), a leading mental health charity, announced the launch of its new three-year strategy, “Proud Past, Bold Future.” This strategy builds on the organization’s 40 years of impact, having supported over 145,000 people in the past year alone. The plan outlines MHM’s commitments to addressing the increasing demand for mental health services, expanding its reach to new communities, and strengthening its role as a sector leader in mental health support.
One of the key focuses of the strategy is tackling the growing demand for mental health services. MHM aims to use its decades of experience to provide support in new areas, including neurodiversity and children and young people. This aligns with the charity’s mission to provide a wide range of support to people with mental health needs in a welcoming, safe, comfortable, non-judgmental, and non-clinical environment.
The launch of this strategy comes alongside the recent appointment of Jasmine Whitbread as Chair of the Board of Trustees. With relevant board-level experience from both the charity and private sectors, Jasmine brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. Her executive career includes ten years at the helm of Save the Children and six years with Oxfam, as well as management roles with technology-oriented companies.
Jane Hughes, CEO of Mental Health Matters, expressed her excitement for the new strategy, stating, “Our Strategy for 2025-28 is ambitious as we seek to grow further and work with new communities where we know there is unmet need. I am thrilled to welcome Jasmine as our new Chair at such an exciting time for the organization. Jasmine’s wealth of experience across the sector will help to lead us on the next stage of our journey and reach more people in need of crucial support.”
In response to her appointment, Ms Whitbread commented, “My career has been driven by a desire to contribute to positive social change across a range of issues, and I have seen the life-saving difference that mental health support services can make. It is a privilege for me to join the team focused on delivering the vital purpose and inspiring vision of Mental Health Matters.”
