Renowned Buddhist monk Osho Taigu has partnered with the Pure Land Foundation in London to promote the integration of Buddhist teachings into modern Western life. The collaboration aims to provide support for mental and spiritual wellness in light of the ongoing mental health crisis.
Osho Taigu, the 31st Head Monk of the historic Fukugonji Buddhist Temple in Japan, gained recognition in 2014 for his efforts to improve mental wellbeing in the corporate world in Japan. His mission has now expanded globally, with a focus on demonstrating the relevance of Buddhist teachings to contemporary societal challenges.
The Pure Land Foundation, founded by philanthropist Bruno Wang in 2015, has been dedicated to promoting spiritual, emotional, and mental wellness. In response to the mental health crisis, the foundation has transformed into a digital-first advocacy organization in 2024. The partnership with Osho Taigu is a part of this transformation, as the foundation aims to engage online audiences with Buddhist-inspired wisdom to support mental wellness.
As part of the collaboration, Osho Taigu will co-create a series of videos with the Pure Land Foundation for their YouTube channel. The videos will target Western audiences and cover various subjects, including applying Buddhist wisdom to achieve business success, mindfulness, peace and happiness, lessons from nature, the secrets of parenting, managing stress, and dealing with loss and grief.
In addition, the Pure Land Foundation has commissioned a series of videos profiling individuals in London who seek guidance in their lives. Each video will document their journey before, during, and after a one-to-one session with Osho Taigu, exploring how Buddhist-inspired philosophies have improved their wellness and outlook.
Osho Taigu’s YouTube channel, “Osho Taigu’s Heart of Buddha,” has over 665,000 subscribers and provides guidance on “turning suffering into hope.” His videos, which have millions of views, have resonated with audiences worldwide.
During his visit to London, Osho Taigu will also present his two core methods, the Taigu Dojo and the Mandala of Management Dojo. These dojos offer a blend of lectures and workshops, allowing participants to learn Buddhist teachings through physical practice. The first London Taigu Dojo, which is not affiliated with the Pure Land Foundation, will be held on 13 October 2024.
In a statement, Osho Taigu said, “The Buddha taught that by understanding the essence of life and the mind, anyone can be freed from doubt and suffering and attain inner peace. He also provided concrete methods for this practice. In other words, Buddhism serves as a guide to living a happy life.”
