Brampton Blitz Crowned Inaugural Champions at Canada Super 60 Final
Vancouver, BC: The Brampton Blitz took home the title of the first-ever Canada Super 60 champions after defeating the Montreal Royal Tigers by eight wickets at BC Place in Vancouver on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
The Blitz displayed an impressive performance with the ball, thanks to top-notch spells from Dillon Heyliger (4/9), David Wiese (3/6), and Chris Greaves (3/16), which resulted in the Tigers being bundled out for just 69 runs in eight overs. Shakib Al Hasan (29 off 12) and Dilpreet Bajwa (18 off 8) were the only batters to reach double figures for the Tigers.
Chasing a target of 70, the Blitz made easy work of the match. Martin Guptill (23* off 13) continued his fine form, while James Vince (34 off 16) top-scored with four fours and two sixes. Alex Davies finished off the game in style, hitting a six to secure the victory in just 5.5 overs. Scotland’s Brad Currie (2/19) managed to pick up both wickets for the Tigers.
The Brampton Blitz’s journey to the final was highlighted by their dominant nine-wicket win over the Mississauga Masters in the semi-finals. Martin Guptill (79 off 25) and Will Smeed (63 off 21) put on a massive 141-run partnership in just 6.5 overs, chasing down a target of 148. Guptill’s stunning knock included 11 sixes and two fours, while Smeed smashed eight sixes and a four to secure the win in just eight overs.
In the first innings, the Masters got off to a strong start with Leus de Plooy (43 off 20) and Sikandar Raza (29 off 13) leading the way. However, it was not enough as Piyush Chawla’s three wickets for 23 runs in two overs proved to be crucial in limiting the Masters to 147 runs.
The Montreal Royal Tigers also secured their spot in the final with a 24-run win over the Vancouver Kings in the first semi-final. English all-rounder Ryan Higgins (2/16) and Shakib Al Hassan (2/5) played key roles in the Tigers’ victory, while Nick Hobson’s impressive knock of 50 off 23 balls, supported by Josh Brown’s quick 26, led the Tigers to a total of 100/6 in 10 overs.
In response, the Kings were unable to keep up with the required run rate, despite efforts from Max Chu (25 off 10), Obus Pienaar (20 off 11), and Jaskarandeep Singh (16 off 13). The Tigers’ bowlers, led by Shakib Al Hasan’s 2/5 in two overs, were able to restrict the Kings to 76/7 in 10 overs.
