Norfolk Clubhouse, a grassroots charity dedicated to promoting mental health empowerment for adults in Norfolk, has been selected as the new ‘charity of the year’ for digital agency Candour. The agency has committed to providing support through fundraising, cash donations, and free digital marketing services, with an initial donation of £10,000.
Founded in 2019 by psychotherapist June Webb, Norfolk Clubhouse offers holistic wellbeing support and a safe space for individuals to connect, learn new skills, and receive assistance with entering or returning to the workforce. With locations in Norwich and Watton, it is the only Clubhouse model enterprise in East Anglia and is part of a global network of over 370 independently operated Clubhouses that prioritize member involvement rather than passive service usage.
June Webb expresses her gratitude for Candour’s partnership, stating, “We are so thankful to Candour for their belief in Norfolk Clubhouse and for this generous donation…this unrestricted funding will make a huge difference in our ability to expand the charity in 2025 and provide additional activities and equipment for our members.”
The donation from Candour will be used to enhance the services offered by Norfolk Clubhouse, with a focus on supporting mental health recovery and promoting skill development and social connections among members. The impact of the Clubhouse model on members’ lives is evident, with one member sharing, “I was feeling in a very bad way, desperate, and needed to do something. Going to the group gave me a lifeline, it keeps me sane and I enjoy the banter and interactions. There is no judgement and I feel safe and free to express myself.”
Research on the success of the Clubhouse mental health model worldwide has shown that 71% of individuals using this type of service report progress in their mental health recovery, compared to 52% of those using alternative services. Candour’s SEO Director Mark Williams-Cook emphasizes the importance of supporting Norfolk Clubhouse, stating, “We are delighted to be able to support Norfolk Clubhouse as our charity of the year for 2025. The work they do is invaluable for the community and we are proud to raise awareness of their work and support vital services.”
