The London Legal Support Trust will be running their 15th annual Walk the Thames event on October 14th, which brings together the legal community to walk or run a half or full marathon along the banks of the Thames. Led by Lord Justice Haddon-Cave and Sir Peter Gross, the event has already raised a whopping £400,000 for the provision of free specialist legal advice agencies.
The Trust for London’s poverty profile highlights the significance of this event, with 27% of Londoners living in poverty after housing costs, 39% of non-white households in poverty, and 53% of single parents in poverty.
Sarah Cashman, Fundraising Manager at Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham commented on taking part in Walk the Thames for the first time this year: “We’re really excited to be taking part in Walk the Thames for the first time this year. The money raised will support older people in Hammersmith & Fulham to access free advice. With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to have an impact, particularly on older people, whatever they raise will make a huge difference. We’re sure it’ll be a great day.”
The 15th annual Walk the Thames event will take place on October 14th and is designed to combine social activism and a mindful day out in order to fundraise for the vital work of the London Legal Support Trust. The event hopes to raise money for the provision of free specialist legal advice agencies, helping to meet the needs of those with complex needs in today’s climate.
