Tomato Energy has launched Smart Energy Communities, an ambitious initiative aimed at helping local authorities and social housing providers adopt clean energy solutions, supporting the UK Government’s push to become a global clean energy leader.
This programme is designed to help achieve the UK’s clean energy goals, including reducing energy bills for households, creating green jobs, and tackling climate change. It empowers communities to take charge of their energy future through local renewable energy projects.
The initiative directly supports the government’s Great British Energy Local Power Plan, which seeks to create 1,000 renewable energy projects, including 100 carport projects powered by solar and wind energy. These projects aim to make clean energy accessible and affordable, while keeping economic benefits within local communities.
Through its scalable Energy as a Service solution powered by Senapt, Tomato Energy enables social housing providers to establish smart energy networks, delivering results from day one.
“By working within existing frameworks, Tomato Energy allows communities to start generating clean energy now without waiting for new regulations,” said Kenny Virdee of Tomato Energy.
“Our use of Senapt’s Energy as a Service software ensures that energy production and distribution is optimised, providing maximum value to residents.”
This initiative provides social housing providers and councils with the opportunity to reduce tenant energy bills, foster sustainability, and contribute to the UK’s renewable energy ambitions.
