“Uncovering the Unheard Patient Accounts: Revealing the Realities of Living with a Chronic Illness”

Patients Association Hosts Webinar to Raise Awareness for Long-term Health Conditions Ahead of General Election

On Wednesday 8 May 2024, the Patients Association, an independent patient charity, will be hosting a webinar in response to the recent report by Future Health titled “The Forgotten Majority.” The webinar aims to raise awareness among policymakers and key stakeholders about the challenges faced by people with long-term health conditions and advocate for meaningful policy change as the General Election approaches.

The webinar, titled “Untold Patient Stories,” will take place on Tuesday 21st May from 9-10am and will be chaired by the Patients Association’s Chief Executive, Rachel Power. The panel will share their personal experiences and insights on the importance of addressing the needs of individuals with long-term health conditions and advocate for improved care and support services.

“We hope this will raise awareness among policymakers and key stakeholders about the challenges faced by the ‘forgotten majority’ and the urgency of addressing their treatment and care,” said Rachel Power.

The Patients Association believes that patients should be actively involved in decisions made about their care and in the design of the health and care system. Through their helpline and information services, they provide information to thousands of people each year about the health and social care system, enabling them to advocate for themselves.

The webinar is open and free for anyone interested in healthcare policy. Abbvie, a global biopharmaceutical company, has provided full funding for the webinar but has had no influence over the project or the development of any associated materials.

“Our goal is to increase awareness and understanding among policymakers and key stakeholders about the challenges faced by individuals with long-term health conditions and drive systemic change,” said Rachel Power.

To sign up for the webinar, interested individuals can visit the Patients Association website and register for “Untold Patient Stories.”
